Back to work but not back to before.

‘Dr Clare B is your woman to help you own both your motherhood and your career’

-Alice, 38, Mum of 2 returning to work

For working mothers who are done surviving and ready to choose.

From Dr Clare Boultby

I was sitting in the car in the rain. I'd just dropped my youngest at nursery for the first time. The windscreen wipers went back and forth, and I didn't move.

I'd worked so hard for my career. I'd just left my baby with a stranger. Nothing had prepared me for how that felt.

It got messier. I was lost at work wanting to be at home, and lost at home wanting to be at work. Everything about me had changed, but everyone expected the same person to turn up on Monday.

I didn't need therapy. I needed somewhere to think.

My STORY

We talk about "going back" to work. As if the job is waiting and you just slot back in.

But you can return to the same desk and not be the same person who left. And the place you're going back to might not fit who you've become.

That isn't a problem to fix. Motherhood doesn't reduce your capability. It redistributes it.

So the question isn't "How do I get back to how things were?"

It's "What do I actually want now?"

The IDEA

Now is the time to role model how to look after yourself

Motherhood is an asset not a hurdle.

Ways In

Join the conversation. A short email every month. One honest idea about work, motherhood and what comes next. No tips, no guilt.

Come to something. Walks, workshops and small gatherings in Sheffield. Somewhere to think, with other women in the same messy middle.

Listen. Podcasts and conversations I've been part of.

Work with me 1:1. A small number of coaching places for women who want dedicated thinking space.

For OrGANISATIONS

Most organisations treat return from maternity leave as the end of the story. She's back. Job done.

It's often where you lose her. Experienced women leave, step back or stall, not because they're less capable, but because nobody noticed what had changed.

This isn't a wellbeing perk. It's about retention, performance and your leadership pipeline.

I offer talks, workshops for managers and parents, practical scripts so managers know what to say, help setting up peer buddy systems, and confidential coaching, informed by clinical mental health experience and an understanding of how organisations work

About CLARE

About Clare

I'm a GP with an extended role in mental health, a coach and a mum of two, based in Sheffield. My work spans general practice, supervising GPs, supporting doctors through professional difficulties, and practitioner mental health.

That means I see both the person and the system around her. I know what happens inside an overloaded mind, and inside the organisations people are trying to work in.

MBChB (Hons), MRCGP, DFSRH, PgDip Mental Health (Distinction) · Transformational Coaching Diploma · Health Coaching Diploma · Time to Think Partnership Training

Coaching is not medical care or therapy. If something needs clinical support, I'll say so and help you find it.
